THE CROWN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS TEXT:: II Cor. 6:14-17; Rev. 2:11
INTRODUCTION: The 5 types of crowns are: Crown of righteousness, Incorruptible
crown, Crown of life, Crown of glory and Crown of rejoicing. Today we’re studying
the crown of righteousness. May the Lord teach us as we study at His feet in Jesus
Mighty Name. Amen.
1. Crown of Righteousness
Paul speaking in 2 Tim 4:8: "Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of
righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and
not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing". This is a crown for
every person who loves the appearing of Jesus Christ like Timothy. A crown for
those ready and waiting for Jesus Christ coming.
2. Righteousness is only by faith.
Salvation is only through grace by faith and every person in Jesus Christ is justified
and righteous, and waiting for the final salvation when Jesus appears. The crown of
righteousness is for every saved person. (Read Rom 3:24; Gal 5:5; Phil 3:9)
To achieve the crown of righteousness, you must abide with certain conditions,
i.e.
1) Fighting a good fight,
2) Course must be completed and
3) Keeping the faith.
3. HOW TO WIN THE CROWN OF RIGHTEOUSNESS
1) The Christian should contend for his faith in Christ, the weapons for the faith
is made available, the course must be completed, i.e. preaching the gospel
and living to please Jesus Read (II Tim. 4:7-8, Jude 3, Daniel 3:16-18; Eph.
6:10-13; I Thess. 5:17; Rev. 12:11.)
2) The battle continues; therefore, faith must be kept in order to overcome, and
there should be no compromise. (Read I Sam. 17:37; Acts 1:8; 16:17-18;
Ps. 40:9-10; Matt. 5:14; Rom. 2:1; Rom. 8:37-39; Rom. 6:1-2; Matt. 24:12).
.
CONCLUSION: Run that you may win refuse to run aimlessly or beat the air but be
purpose driven, intentional and focused in this race as Paul (read 1 Corinthians 9:26) .
"Blessed are those servants whom the master will find on the alert when he comes"
JESUS IS LORD
